A Lawyer's Introduction to Computers: Understanding Technology and Digital Evidence

Presented by: Jonathan Karchmer, Senior Managing Consultant for iDiscovery Solutions

Synopsis: Digital data is becoming an ever-increasing share of evidence in a case. This presentation will cover the sources of that data and how to properly preserve and collect (or extract) it, combined with a survey of the tools and systems that attorneys use to manage data (electronic or paper) through the discovery process. 

    Presenter Bio:  Mr. Jonathan Karchmer is a Sr. Managing Consultant in the Costa Mesa office of iDiscovery Solutions, Inc. (iDS). Mr. Karchmer has over thirteen years of experience in managing projects dealing with computer forensic examinations, ESI collection/processing, hosting, as well as document review and production. He has advised counsel in engagements regarding intellectual property and trade secret theft, contractual disputes, electronic document productions, FTC second requests, due diligence investigations, embezzlement, harassment, illegal surveillance, network attack/incident handling, and network security auditing. Mr. Karchmer has also offered sworn testimony in state and federal courts. Prior to joining iDS, he was a Senior Managing Consultant in the Electronic Discovery Practice at LECG, and a Computer Forensic Analyst for both Spinelli Corporation and Mack/Barclay Inc.

    OCPA is a State Bar of California Approved MCLE provider and certifies that this seminar qualifies for MCLE CREDIT 1.0.

    Event Fee: $10.00 for OCPA members, $20.00 for non-members and $20.00 for all walk-ins who have not pre-registered online  (both members and non-members).

    **Parking is $6.00 per hour in the garage adjacent to the office or there is free parking at Fashion Island (the office is across the street from the Island Hotel and the nearest store is Neiman Marcus).  Parking fees are not covered by OCPA.

Credit for a future meeting will be held in your OCPA account which may be applied to future meetings if your cancellation is received no less than 48 hours prior to the event.
