Kitchen and Warehouse
Join us to volunteer with the OC Rescue Mission, a nonprofit organization that provides on-campus housing, basic needs, and comprehensive services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Our group will be working either in the Kitchen or Warehouse during this shift. The Kitchen duties will be chopping veggies and fruits, cleaning the cafe, making sandwiches, and folding towels. The age requirement is over 18. The Warehouse tasks are sorting canned goods, clothing, and other donations, putting together food boxes, and breaking down cardboard. The age requirement is over 10.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO REVIEW:
1. Parking - please park in the back parking lot, see parking map HERE. The back parking lot is circled on the left. There is limited parking, carpooling is encouraged.
2. Arrive 5 minutes before service.
3. Keep all personal items (e.g. bags/backpacks, etc.) at home, work, or in your cars.
4. Please read these waivers beforehand: A. OCRM Volunteer Group Waiver, B. Kitchen Volunteer Safety Checklist, C. Warehouse Safety Checklist. OC Rescue Mission will have these printed for our group to sign upon arrival. There are mandatory dress codes listed in the Kitchen and Warehouse Volunteer Safety Checklists above, please review as you will be turned away if you are not dressed according to the dress codes. They operate a commercial kitchen that requires them to comply with safety standards and adherence to food handling rules. The industrial warehouse also requires strict compliance and adherence to safety rules and regulations.
