SECTION MEETING: CRIMINAL LAW

TOPIC: Title-404b Character Evidence at Trial

Federal Rule of Evidence 404(b) generally prohibits the use of evidence from other crimes, wrongs, or acts to prove a person's character in order to show they acted in conformity with that character. However, there are exceptions, allowing such evidence for other purposes like proving motive, intent, or opportunity.

Jessica Munk is an experienced trial attorney in federal and state courts focusing on white collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation. She was a prosecuting attorney in Washington State, has tried numerous jury trials, has written and argued numerous criminal motions. Jessica is currently a trial attorney and principal at Wiechert, Munk & Goldstein, PC, where she handles complex civil and criminal cases, investigations, and trials.
